Life can be full of simple pleasures. We just have to be aware of the world around us, that’s all.
Of course, I am speaking of something in particular.
Something that we do on a regular basis, and depending upon our needs, it can be something we do quite often.
That’s right, there are even simple pleasures to be found in the tedious task of doing laundry.
I’m sure you could give me half a dozen ways to make the chore of doing laundry a more pleasurable experience. Just the softness of the clothes can do that.
But what I am talking about can almost make you look forward to getting the laundry out of the hamper. And you might even find yourself waiting with anticipation for that first load to finally come out of the dryer.
All of your skepticism will melt away, when you finally open the dryer, and your senses are engulfed in the wonderful fresh fragrance of lavender.
As you reach into the dryer, and begin to pull out your freshly cleaned clothes, your senses being caressed by the soft lavender aroma that clings to every fiber, you will feel your laundering experience rise to a new dimension.
There is almost a magical feel in the air as you sort and fold the clothes, hanging some on hangers, all the while enraptured in the relaxing fragrance of fresh lavender buds.
And all it takes for this “Simple Pleasure” to be yours is a simple lavender FILLED dryer sachet. Then you too can experience “almost Heaven” as you open the dryer door.
Since your clothes are wet when they first go into the dryer, and because the dryer does make this moisture extremely hot, you will want to avoid the colors of the lavender dryer sachet bleeding into your clothes. With this in mind, it is best to use a simple cotton muslin sachet as your lavender dryer sachet. In addition, the cotton helps the sachet to “breath” more freely, giving your lavender dryer sachet maximum performance.
When we do our laundry, we use a 4x6 muslin sachet, which we FILL with lavender. And yes, a 4x6 lavender dryer sachet holds quite a bit of lavender buds.
When we are not doing laundry, we keep our lavender dryer sachet in the clothes hamper, just to help a little with that soiled laundry odor. Be sure to remember where it is though, since the lavender buds don’t do so well in the washing machine. After being soaked and then dried in the dryer like that, you will find every little bud opened up, with hardly the faintest trace of their precious lavender scent.
Just out of curiosity, when we had a brand new lavender dryer sachet ready to go into the dryer, we kept a record of how many times we used the lavender dryer sachet before it lost its fragrance. We counted five good loads of laundry. A couple loads were very heavy, with towels, jeans and such and one load was lighter. So in the end, the use of the lavender dryer sachet was equaled out. And this has seemed to be the average usage for our lavender dryer sachets.
And after five loads of laundry, there was just enough fragrance left in the lavender buds to sprinkle them on the floor. When they had been vacuumed back up, there was one last delightful blast of fresh lavender aroma that filled the house.
