Hurricane Irene has been reeking havac up and down the east coast, casting an eerie glow.
And the misty sheen you see here on these colorful hibiscus flowers would be compliments of the monster Irene herself.
But even in these conditions, the hibiscus flowers are still very beautiful.

Dogwood Fall Colors
The autumn curtain has officially fallen here in the commonwealth of Virginia.
One of the first flowers to bloom in the spring is the dogwood, and it is also one of the first trees to turn colors in the fall.
It's always neat to see how the dogwood's branches and leaves grow in layers, so that a lot of times the changing colors will be in layers also.
As the brightly colored leaves begin to fall from the dogwood trees, we are left with another colorful surprise, the dogwood berries.
And though not edible per say for human consumption, these bright red berries are a welcome sight, especially for the birds and squirrels.
Another interesting thing about the dogwood is how the little green berry pods stick up above the layers of leaves and branches, like a thousand little raised hands, each trying to get your attention.
Of course, with the changing of the leaves comes the long awaited cooler weather.
And with the cooler weather comes a very busy holiday season right at its heels :-).
We are excited here at LittleFrenchBoutique.com about the coming holidays, and about our future plans as LittleFrenchBoutique.com continues to grow.
And thank you so much for being a part of our success!

Iris
The iris is such a common flower with such an uncommon beauty.
When you take a moment to pause and study the intricate details and coloring of an iris flower, you almost feel as though this plant was meant only for the tropics. Yet it has been designed with hardy features, so that we can enjoy its beauty and splendor from many of our own back yards.
With our natural and ivory colored linen lavender sachets, we offer a variety of different colored ribbons that are tied around the lavender sachet. And one of the colors offered is iris :-).
Beautiful sachets, each made special by its own unique color of ribbon.

Rose of Sharon with busy little bee |
Pink Rose of Sharon
With pink petals that are "almost" violet, the red center of this rose of sharon flower completes the illusion of the violet color.
Open bright and early, the bees have already begun their busy day.
Bees are not the only ones who enjoy these beautiful flowers with us. There are also the japanese beetles to contend with. Unfortunately, their love for these rose of sharon flowers has nothing to do with their beauty, but more with their taste, and they are quite destructive. A most unwelcome visitor!
The pink rose of sharon flowers have a certain charm about them in the dawning early morning light, the soft light adding to the soft violet hues.
You may also be interested in our Pink Organza Cone Shaped Sachets, filled with lavender and topped with rose petals for those subtle hues :-).

  Rose of Sharon |
White Rose of Sharon
The rose of sharons are in full bloom when we come out in the morning, and as the sun begins to climb into the sky, gradually heating the air, the rose of sharon flowers wilt away, leaving only a multitude of fresh buds around it to repeat the ceremony the next morning.
Soft white petals with a delicate, almost tissue paper appearance, and a soft creamy yellow stamen in the center.
As a good thing or a bad thing, depending upon your perspective, bees love the thick pollen they find in the rose of sharon flower. Sometimes it seems as though the choices are so many and so good, that the poor bumble bees can't make up their little minds as which flower to work on first :-).
If you love the delicate and clean beauty of the white rose of sharon, you are sure to love our White Lavender Sachet with Victorian Lace.

Maize
Corn is an amazing grain.
Within the mature cornfield, you can almost get lost, finding yourself in maze upon maze as you try to find where you are within the forest of corn stalks.
Each ear of corn is topped off with velvety silk, and each stalk is topped off with its own tassel.
And as you pull back the husk, the maize color is revealed. And even more so, you see the color in the corn when it is dried and ground into meal.
Corn has become such a part of our American culture.
Being such a pleasant color, maize can fit into many different functions and decorations.
Click here on Maize 3x4 Organza Lavender Sachet to order so you can try it for yourself.

Wild Berries
Upstate New York has some beautiful countryside.
Full of hills and forests, which in turn are filled with wildlife, wild flowers, and best of all, wild berries.
When you are fortunate enough to come across a raspberry or blackberry patch, it is hard to just stop with the taste of one berry.
Of course, the chokeberries are just beautiful. Aptly named for their EXTRA tart flavor, they can make wonderful jams and jellies, but by the handful they are a bit much :-).
All the rich hues of red kind of remind us here at LittleFrenchBoutique.com of some of our Classic French Style Lavender Sachets.

| Ocean Beach |
 |
Here in the sunny resort city of Virginia Beach, Virginia, we have plenty of ocean beaches.
From the Atlantic shore on up and around to the Chesapeake Bay shore.
There is a certain intoxicating something about the beach … perhaps it is the waves as they come rolling in.
Or perhaps it is that clean ocean air that blows over water and sand.
Whatever the attraction, if you love the beach and the ocean, you will love the clean smell and feel of Simple Scents Ocean Beach soap.
Click here on 100g (3.5 oz) Ocean Beach Bar Soap for more information.

| The Lily Pond |
 Halloween Pennant Dragonflies Cooling |
Dragonflies truly are amazing creatures, with their great diversity in colors, sizes, shapes and patterns.
They almost seem to be friendly little giants. Small caricatures of aviators from a bygone era wearing over sized goggles. And always with a big grin on their faces.
Friendly to us maybe.
But in the insect world they are fierce predators, devouring hordes of mosquitoes among other things. That in its self is enough to make them a welcome sight.
Kind of in the same league as the praying mantis and lady bug when it comes to congeniality AND usefulness.
With four wings that all move independent of each other, enabling flight that is up, down, forward, backward and sideways, we are right back to the word amazing.
And amazingly enough, stamped right into the pattern of our Green Lily Pond Lavender Sachet you might find these gentle little giants, all surrounded by a tranquil scene of lilies and lily pads on a quiet pond.
